The People Behind Our Mission

The Menopause Literacy Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We teach women what perimenopause and menopause are, what to expect, and how to get care.

Our mission is to advance the health and well-being of women in midlife by providing evidence based education about perimenopause and menopause, and to close the information and care gap for medically underserved women across the Southeast.

Vanessa Ford, Executive Director and Founder

Vanessa Ford founded the Menopause Literacy Project after years of work at the intersection of menopause, technology, and women's health. She co-founded MenoLabs, a menopause health company that was later acquired, and built MenoLife, a menopausal health app, which assembled the largest dataset of women in perimenopause and menopause gathered to date. She was named a North America finalist for the Cartier Women's Initiative.

In her work, Vanessa learned that the women who most needed accurate menopause information were the least likely to receive it. The Menopause Literacy Project is her answer to that.
